CMMU major Nicholas Luncsford was awarded a Certificate of Transfer Student Excellence at the October 30, 2019 "Transfer Scholar Activists" event hosted by Services for Transfer and Re-entry Students (STARS) at the Merrill College Cultural Center. Nic was nominated by Professor Andrea Steiner for their outstanding accomplishments as a transfer student at UC Santa Cruz.  Faculty and staff across campus were invited to nominate transfer students for their outstanding contributions to undergraduate scholarship or leadership.

Professor Steiner wrote in her nomination: "Nic is not only a great student, he's also been a steady source of inspiration and support to his fellow students -- particularly but by no means exclusively those who identify as LGBTQ. Last quarter he routinely provided financial and housing resource information to fellow students, co-organized a powerful class on self-care and surviving gender violence, and he steadily offers social support to transfer students and others who sometimes feel alienated."

Congratulations to Nic!
