On Thursday, February 4, 2016, The Community Studies B.A. Program celebrated its pioneering academic curriculum of campus and field study learning dedicated to social justice with its second annual student poster session.
The field study cohort returned from a six-month field study in places far (e.g., New York City, Columbia, Seattle) and near (Oakland, Salinas, San Diego). The students worked on social justice issues as varied as homeless youth advocacy, environmental justice, street level health care and immigrant rights. At the February 4 event, each of the 44 students showcased their field work and emergent analyses on individual posters proudly displayed in the Oakes College academic building. The student posters remain on display and available for viewing on the 2nd floor of the Oakes College Academic Building.
