Mara Waldhorn has a Master’s degree in Teaching and was a middle school English as a Second Language teacher in New York City for two years. She is working on her second Master’s degree in Social Documentation at the University of California, Santa Cruz and is currently working on a collaborative documentary film with some of the young people she taught in Washington Heights, Manhattan as part of her Master’s thesis. This project focuses on themes of immigration, the Dominican diaspora in New York, the public education system in the United States, and youth identity.
