Always interested in the motivations, desires, and patterns of others, Valerie Krex transformed her love of gossip and human interaction into a filmmaking career about 5 years ago. She completed an MFA degree in Media Arts at the University of Montana in 2005 where she created character-based, social issue documentaries that investigate issues such as race, economy, feminism, and youth cultures. She just ended production on a feature documentary which follows a Montana-based Mary Kay Cosmetics sales director through one year of life-changing professional and personal struggles. Valerie plans to spend her first year at UCSC editing this exciting story and learning to surf.
